Abundant Forests Alliance

Members of the wood and paper industry recently joined together to form the Abundant Forests Alliance  (AFA) to help educate consumers about our industry's commitment to maintaining the balance between supplying wood and paper products and protecting the forest resources that make these products possible. Recent research has found that nearly two-thirds of consumers and half of all business customers incorrectly believe that our forests are shrinking. “We want to be certain that consumers and our business customers are aware of the commitment of our industry and our forestry professionals to ensuring that our forests are healthy and growing for the futures of our children and grandchildren,” said Rob Amen, president of International Paper and chairman of the board of directors of the AFA.

Discover The Tree Farmer, a children's book that educates families about environmental stewardship. The AFA is partnering with First Book to donate copies of The Tree Farmer  to children affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Founding Members of the AFA include: Anthony Forest Products Company, Georgia-Pacific, Green Diamond Resource Company, International Paper, MeadWestvaco, Monadnock, Plum Creek Timber Company and Weyerhaeuser.
