What if we just built a better bracket? |
| One of the first projects I was assigned to was to improve various mounting brackets on PM-1. The original brackets were worn out and made too thin and weak to be reliable. They needed constant tweaking. I designed, constructed, and implemented a new style of bracket that is stronger and less troublesome. Besides construction the brackets out of thicker materials, I also slotted each bolt hole. This allowed the bracket to be hand tightened then aligned quickly and easily. The brackets and couplings were sucessfully implemented and I haven't heard of any issues with them thus far - which is the goal of any reliability project. | |
