|
The ink and coating systems used by Shorewood Packaging are green ones, with little or no waste generated during the manufacturing process. All inks and coatings are certified by our respective suppliers to contain only components that are FDA listed. Our suppliers assure us that the ink components they use are recognized by the FDA and GRAS (generally regarded as safe).
- All inks used by Shorewood are recyclable and fully compatible with our water-based and UV coatings
- Our conventional-drying offset ink formulations are primarily renewable vegetable-oil based combinations
- We select the best vegetable oil or combination of oils to provide our customers with the best finished product that is also good for the environment; choices include soy, linseed or other vegetable oils
- Our UV inks are made from 100% non-volatile systems that are low (less than 1%) in VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) or VOC free
- Both UV and water-based coatings can be easily separated from board for recycling
- EB (electronic beam) coating used in gravure printing has a low odor and allows for very low retained-solvent levels for consumer packaging
- Applicable oils and coatings are certified by our respective suppliers to contain only components that are FDA listed for direct food contact
