Integrating people with disabilities
With the support of Handicap International (HI), we’re advancing our efforts in Morocco to integrate people with disabilities in the workplace.
International Paper is a proud partner of Handicap International (HI). The non-governmental organization, which is known as Humanity & Inclusion in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, provides humanitarian aid and development support in nearly 60 countries, including Morocco.
A focus of HI’s work in Morocco is to encourage greater diversity and inclusion, particularly of people with disabilities. As part of its Employment & Disability program, the organization partners with companies such as International Paper to provide vocational training and employment opportunities to people with disabilities.
With HI’s support and expertise, International Paper has been increasing its inclusion of employees with disabilities in Morocco since 2019. In addition to actively recruiting people with disabilities, for both employment and internship opportunities, we provide our employees with training on best practices for working with and including those with disabilities. Over the course of the last several years, IP has participated in numerous external events promoting diversity and inclusion, along with organizing our own internal awareness raising initiatives. Our facilities also underwent an audit, after which specific steps were taken to make them more accessible to employees with disabilities.
The partnership is part of how we pursue our Vision 2030 goals, our commitment to building a better future for people, the planet and the company. A core component of this Vision is embracing diversity within the IP workforce and across our supply chain.
