About this scholarship

In honor of former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board Mark Sutton’s 40 years of service at IP, the company is proud to offer the Mark & Laurie Sutton Young Leaders Scholarship. The program aims to award two or more scholarships of up to $10,000 to eligible candidates each year from 2025-2029. 

The 2025 application period begins December 2, 2024 and closes on January 20, 2025.

Eligibility

Please read closely to determine whether you can apply for the Mark & Laurie Sutton Young Leaders Scholarship.

 

You are eligible if you are:
A dependent child of an active IP employee who:
  • is fulltime, OR part-time employed on a non-temporary basis and works a minimum of twenty hours per week
  • has at least three years of employment with the company by the application deadline
  • is not an officer of the company (VP and above) 
A high school senior planning to enroll in a full-time program in the upcoming academic year in the United States, including:
  • Undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university
  • Vocational-technical school
Note: Children of international employees are eligible, but they must be attending a secondary school in the United States. 
 
 
APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED STARTING DECEMBER 2.
 
You are ineligible if you are:
  • Not a dependent child of IP employees, full time or active part-time with twenty hours or more per week
  • A child of an IP employee who has fewer than three years of employment with the company
  • A child of an officer of the company (VP and above)
  • Not applying for a college, university or technical school for the upcoming academic year
  • Not a high school senior
  • A senior enrolling in an international (non-US) school or program
